The place where I studying my major in Civil Engineering, it also extended the experience to meet new colleagues from all over Indonesia and that's the cool part of the campus seemed to be a mini with Indonesian comrades from Sabang to Merauke.

Okay, now we talk about the history of University of Muhammadiyah Malang
The University of Muhammadiyah Malang was found in
1964 and initiated by the figure of Muhammadiyah Leadership in Malang.
At the beginning the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) was affiliated with the University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta established by Yayasan Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah Jakarta with the Deed of Notary R.Sihojo Wongsowidjojo in Jakarta No. 71 on June 19 1963.
At the beginning the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) was affiliated with the University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta established by Yayasan Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah Jakarta with the Deed of Notary R.Sihojo Wongsowidjojo in Jakarta No. 71 on June 19 1963.
At that time the University of Muhammadiyah Malang had
three faculties: Faculty of
Economics, Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of
Teacher Training and Education which included the Islamic
Education Department.
The three faculties obtained the registered status from Education and Culture Ministry,Direktorat Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi, in 1966 by the Decree Number 68/B-Swt/p/1966 dated December 30 1966.

On July 1 1968 the University of Muhammadiyah
Malang officially separated from the University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ).
The management was separated by Yayasan Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah Malang by the Deed of Notary R. Sudiono No. 2 on July 1 1968.
Furthermore, the Deed of Notary updated with the Notary G. Kamarudzaman No. 7 on June 6 1975 and updated again with the Deed of Notary Kumalasari S.H No. 026 on November 24 1988 and was registered in State Court Malang No. 88/PP/YYS/XI/1988 on November 28 1988.
The management was separated by Yayasan Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah Malang by the Deed of Notary R. Sudiono No. 2 on July 1 1968.
Furthermore, the Deed of Notary updated with the Notary G. Kamarudzaman No. 7 on June 6 1975 and updated again with the Deed of Notary Kumalasari S.H No. 026 on November 24 1988 and was registered in State Court Malang No. 88/PP/YYS/XI/1988 on November 28 1988.
In 1968 UMM added the Faculty of Social Welfare which
became affiliated with the Faculty of Social Welfare of UMJ.
This became the fourth faculty at UMM.
The Islamic Education Department enrolled as the Faculty of Islamic Studies (Faculty of Tarbiyah) which was under the protection of the Religious Ministry.
In 1970 the Faculty of Tarbiyah obtained the same status as the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) from the Minister of Religious Decree Number 50 Year 1970.
That same year the Faculty of Social Welfare also changed its name to the Faculty of Social Science and Social Welfare Department.
In 1975 the Faculty of Social Science officially became independent (separated from UMJ) with the Registered Decree Number 002 A/1/1975 on April 16 1975.
During the years 1977 to 1980 more faculties were added to UMM which included: the Faculty of Engineering in 1977, Faculty of Agriculture in 1980, and the Faculty of Animal Husbandry.
From 1983 to 1993 UMM added new departments and improved the status of existing ones.
In 1993 the University of Muhammadiyah Malang opened Post Graduate Programs such asMasters of Management and Masters of Sociology.
Up to the academic year 1994/1995 the University of Muhammadiyah Malang had nine faculties and 25 departments for Graduate Programs, two Masters Programs and one Diploma Program (D3-Nursing).
From 1983 to 1994 the most significant developments occurred.
From then on the development of UMM was very impressive and included improving the status of departments, the improvement of administration, the addition of facilities and the enlargement and improvement of staff quality in administration and academic.
In 2009 UMM merged the Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Animal Husbandry-Fishery which became the Faculty of Agricomplex in order to accord with the consortium of agriculture science.
There are three available campuses to support the teaching-learning process: Campus I in Jl. Bandung No. 1, Campus II in Jl. Bendungan Sutami No. 188a and Campus III in Jl. Raya Tlogo Mas.
To develop the quantity and quality of academic staff UMM employed young lecturers from various well-known universities in Java and improved the quality of the lecturers through funding for further studies both in Indonesia and abroad.
Finally the University of Muhammadiyah Malang transformed into the university of choice for students owing to its hard work.
UMM was recognized by Koordinator Kopertis Wilayah VII, through his speech at a Graduation of University of Muhammadiyah Malang on July 11 1992, that UMM had turned into a great university and had a prosperous future.
By continuously improving the University of Muhammadiyah Malang it became proud but humble and was ready to face the future for “mencerdaskan kehidupan bangsa”- educating the people of the nation and “membangun manusia Indonesia seutuhnya” - developing the Indonesian people to be dignified and compatible with other countries.

Tempat saya kini menimba ilmu dan mendalami jurusan saya yaitu Teknik Sipil, di samping itu juga memperluas pengalaman dengan berjumpa kawan-kawan baru dari seluruh Indonesia dan itulah bagian asik dikampus yaitu serasa menjadi Indonesia mini bersama kawan-kawan dari Sabang sampai Merauke.
Fasilitas di UMM juga sangat komplit dan sangat mendukung pembelajaran, itulah yang membuat kami sangat betah di kampus :)
Oke, sekarang kita bahas tentang sejarah Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang
Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) berdiri pada tahun 1964,
atas prakarsa tokoh-tokoh dan Pimpinan Muhammadiyah Daerah Malang. Pada awal
berdirinya Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang merupakan cabang dari Universitas
Muhammadiyah Jakarta, yang didirikan oleh Yayasan Perguruan Tinggi
Muhammadiyah Jakarta dengan Akte Notaris R. Sihojo Wongsowidjojo di Jakarta No.
71 tang-gal 19 Juni 1963.
Pada waktu itu, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang mempunyai 3 (tiga)
fakultas, yaitu Fakultas
Ekonomi, Fakultas
Hukum, dan Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (FKIP)Jurusan
Pendidikan Agama. Ketiga fakultas ini mendapat status Terdaftar dari Departemen
Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan, Direktorat Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi pada
tahun 1966 dengan Surat Keputusan Nomor 68/B-Swt/p/1966 tertanggal 30 Desember
1966.
Pada tanggal 1 Juli 1968 Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang resmi
menjadi universitas yang berdiri sendiri (terpisah dari Universitas
Muhammadiyah Jakarta), yang penyelenggaraannya berada di tangan Yayasan
Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah Malang, dengan Akte Notaris R. Sudiono, No. 2
tertanggal 1 Juli 1968. Pada perkembangan berikutnya akte ini kemudian
diperbaharui dengan Akte Notaris G. Kamarudzaman No. 7 Tanggal 6 Juni 1975, dan
diperbaharui lagi dengan Akte Notaris Kumalasari, S.H. No. 026 tanggal 24
November 1988 dan didaftar pada Pengadilan Malang Negeri No. 88/PP/YYS/ XI/
1988 tanggal 28 November 1988.
Pada tahun 1968, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang menambah fakultas
baru, yaitu Fakultas Kesejahteraan Sosial yang merupakan fi‘lial dari Fakultas
Kesejahteraan Sosial Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta. Dengan demikian, pada
saat itu Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang telah memiliki empat fakultas. Selain
itu, FKIP Jurusan Pendidikan Agama mendaftarkan diri sebagai Fakultas Agama
yang berada dalam naungan Departemen Agama dengan nama Fakultas Tarbiyah.
Pada tahun 1970 Fakultas Tarbiyah ini mendapatkan status yang sama
dengan Perguruan Tinggi Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN), dengan Surat Keputusan
Menteri Agama Nomor 50 Tahun 1970. Pada tahun ini pula Fakultas Kesejahteraan
Sosial mengubah namanya menjadi Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dengan Jurusan
Kesejahteraan Sosial. Kemudian pada tahun 1975 Fakultas ini resmi berdiri
sendiri (terpisah dari Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta) dengan Surat Keputusan
Terdaftar Nomor 022 A/1/1975 tanggal 16 April 1975.
Fakultas yang kemudian ditambahkan adalah Fakultas
Teknik, yaitu pada tahun 1977. Pada tahun 1980 dibuka pula Fakultas Pertanian, kemudian menyusul Fakultas
Peternakan. Antara tahun 1983 sampai dengan 1993, ditambahkan
jurusan-jurusan baru dan ditingkatkan status jurusan-jurusan yang suudah ada.
Yang terakhir, pada tahun 1993 Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang membuka
Program Pascasarjana Program
Studi Magister Manajemen dan Magister
Sosiologi Pedesaan
.
Sampai tahun akademik 1994/1995 ini, Universitas Muhammadiyah
Malang telah memiliki 9 fakultas dan 25 jurusan/program studi tingkat strata
Si, dua program studi strata-S2, dan satu akademi /strata-D3 Keperawatan.
Pada rentang tiga puluh tahun perjalanan UMM ini (1964- 1994),
perkembangan yang paling berarti dimulai pada tahun 1983-an. Sejak saat itu dan
seterusnya UMM mencatat perkembangan yang sangat mengesankan, balk dalam bidang
peningkatan status Jurusan, dalam pembenahan administrasi, penambahan sarana
dan fasilitas kampus, maupun penambahan dan peningkatan kualitas tenaga
pengelolanya (administrasi dan akademik). Tahun 2009, UMM menggabungkan
Fakultas Pertanian dan Fakultas Peternakan-Perikanan menjadi Fakultas
Pertanian dan Peternakan agar sesuai dengan konsorsium
Ilmu-ilmu Pertanian.
Dalam bidang sarana fisik dan fasilitas akademik, kini telah
tersedia tiga buah kampus:Kampus I di
Jalan Bandung No. 1, Kampus II di
Jalan Bendungan Sutami No. 188a, dan Kampus III(Kampus Terpadu) di
Jalan Raya Tlogo Mas. Dalam bidang peningkatan kuantitas dan kualitas tenaga
akademik, telah dilakukan (1) rekruitmen dosen-dosen muda yang berasal dari
berbagai perguruan tinggi terkemuka di pulau Jawa, (2) Peningkatan kualitas
para dosen dengan mengirim mereka untuk studi lanjut (S2 dan S3) di dalam
maupun di luar negeri.
Berkat perjuangan yang tidak mengenal berhenti ini, maka kini
Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang sudah menjelma ke arah perguruan tinggi
alternatif. Hal ini sudah diakui pula oleh Koordinator
Kopertis Wilayah VII yang pada pidato resminya pada
wisuda sarjana Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang tanggal 11 Juli 1992,
mengemukakan bahwa UMM tergolong perguruan tinggi yang besar dan berprospek
untuk menjadi perguruan tinggi masa depan.
Dengan kondisi yang terus ditingkatkan, kini Universitas
Muhammadiyah Malang dengan bangga tetapi rendah hati siap menyongsong masa
depan, untuk ikut serta dalam tugas bersama "mencerdaskan kehidupan
bangsa" dan "membangun manusia Indonesia seutuhnya" dalam menuju
menjadi bangsa Indonesia yang bermartabat dan sejajar dengan bangsa-bangsa lain
di dunia.
